CMT Program – Ethics Continuity

Do you already hold the CFA or CAIA designations? Leverage your prior study of financial ethics. The MTA recently adopted the CFA Code of Ethics & Standards of Professional Conduct for use in the CMT Program curriculum published by Wiley. Be assured that CMT charterholders’ ethics are current with the best industry standard for ethics instruction.

“The essence of investment management is the management
of risks, not the management of returns.”
– Benjamin Graham

Following a recent partnership agreement, the Market Technicians Association and CFA Institute now follow a single Code and Standards benefitting the global financial community by setting high standards of education, integrity, and professional excellence. The original MTA Code of Ethics was comprehensive and covered all of the important standards of professional behavior. The shortcoming was a lack of case studies and examples of how to apply the Code. This licensing agreement makes all of the CFAI’s Code and Standards developed over several decades available to MTA members. For CMT candidates, this licensing agreement provides clear readings which will make studying for the exam a more efficient process.

A more detailed description of the rationale, adoption process effect on the CMT Program, and code and standards resources for candidates is available online by visiting: www.mta/code-of-ethics.com

CMT Program – Global Application

Posted June 24, 2015 By APTA.org.au
Market Technicians Association - MTA
Distinguish yourself by employing skills and insights transferable across all liquid global markets and asset classes. The advanced technical expertise represented by the CMT charter immediately communicates to clients and employers the disciplined approach, academic rigor, and unique professional skill set which CMT charterholders possess. Technical analysis allows investment professionals to read price, quantify risk and adjust allocation in any asset class along any investment horizon.

“For me personally, the CMT is the most useful and practical study program for investment professionals among existing programs. The CMT Program turns quite a number of the classic forms of analysis upside-down. It is critically important that we look at things outside the box.
That’s the value CMT education delivers.”
– Will W. Wang, CMT, CFA, CAIA,
Director of Barclays Private Bank Advisory, North Asia
